John T. Barrett Papers, 1874-1943 (bulk 1942-1943).

Collection consists primarily of 94 V-Mail letters sent to Barrett by his father and other friends and relatives. The letters sent from his father (57 letters, 1942-1943) relate general news from his home in London. Topics include the weather, his work, his health (and the health of others), visits with relatives and friends, gasoline rationing, and mail service for the military. The remaining letters to Barrett (37 letters, 1942-1943) also relate news about people and events. There are also 7 war insignias, a small gospel of St. John, a black-and-white photograph, and other miscellaneous paperwork. Acquired as part of the William B. Hamilton Collection of British Manuscripts. (02-057).
